Highest point in Florida
Lakewood, Walton county, Florida

Within the state of Florida, the highest point of land is about 345 feet above mean sea level. That 'peak' is located in north Walton County, Florida, just south of Paxton, Florida, and Florala, Alabama. There you will find a small county park with picnic tables, minimal facilites, and a concrete monument marking the high point. There are several short trails in the area as well.

Directions:

Along US highway 331, just south of Florala, Alabama, the 'Lakewood cutoff' is well-marked. From the first county park sign on 331 you will turn east toward Lakewood and follow the well-marked route. If you are traveling 331 anyway, it is only a short, round trip detour.
